Caterham Rocker Switch Problem?

PostPost by: terryp » Thu Dec 15, 2011 10:32 am

Yes I know its not an Elan, but I have just discovered a problem on my Caterham
Both rocker switches on the far left hand side (Hazard and Fog Rear) seem to have a bad connection and are be effected by what direction the wire is on the back. Is it just a case of a new switch or can something be done?
Thanks

Terry

Terry,

Can you say a bit more about how they are "effected"? Go? No-go? Intermittent? or...other

I imagine that hazards & rear fog haven't had a LOT of use, so worn switch contacts unlikely, but maybe some internal corrosion? Can you bypass the switches to eliminate that variable?

Good Luck - Richard

Intermittent but its effected by moving the wire?
I have used a cable tie around the rocker switch and it seems to be a little better?

Cheers

Sounds like dodgey contacts. In the past I've used aerosol switch cleaner (with fine nozzle)sprayed into switches and operated them a few times. Might work...but if not, hopefully the Caterham switches are more readily available than those for Elans..

Terry,

A small thing, maybe, but a piece of good news nevertheless!
