Didn?t realise until today Delamare Road is going to be redeveloped and the old Lotus Factory will disappear as part of the new large residential development.

There's scope for some appropriate street names here! Could be the six (?) F1 champions, other winners, model names, personnel etc. One would have to be Lotus Lane but who would live at Chapman's Folly?

[Richard Cox, congratulations on your fifth gear]

Hopefully they will put the Team Lotus (?) plaque on a building on the new estate. It is currently on the "Monster Gym".

Thanks to whoever revived this thread - a really interesting read. Sorry we'll never read Maureen's full memoirs, but grateful for the brief glimpses she shared.

Hi - I have been out of the loop for a while. My husband died in February so life is rather sad and difficult at the moment.

I'm horrified to hear that the Lotus building is coming down to make way for a housing estate ! And the plaque we put on the gym ? Maybe someone should contact the owner of the gym to find out if his part is also to be demolished, and what he will do with the plaque. History being lost here - sad. I will try to contact the gym.

If anyone wants to stay in touch I can always be found on [email protected]. That way you could finally find out what was found in the glove compartment of Jim Clark's Elan when it came in for service ....

Cheers, Maureen

This is the planning details. Looks like a year or two before anything happens. Clive Chapman, Classic Team Lotus, is aware.

That is an interesting link - thank you. I have written to Monster Gym. No reply so far, but when (if) I receive one I shall post it here. Maureen

So, a final meet of Cheshunt built Elans along Delamare Road before the factory disappears in a year or so ?
