I usually get hold of the wrong end of the stick Bill

It may be from "Carry On" but for me the classic use of it was in "Airplane" starring the late Leslie Nielson

I think you are probably more right than me; it's almost certainly a Leslie Nielson joke.

Remember this lady ? She almost made it to age 105 and recently visited Jay Leno's car collection. I wonder what she thought of his Elans. What a long life.

Funny how with some of us cars just get under the skin. Other inanimate objects do too, of course. For me it's a Frederick Beesley sidelock ejector 12 bore shotgun; a John Phillip RA painting; an International Dragon yacht; a Braun Mach 2 lighter given to me by one of my sisters for my 21st. No idea why, they just do!

I'm with you on nice old shotguns.....the wife has no idea how much I have tied up in them but she knows cars are expensive!

I got a kick out of assisting a mate bring out a lovely old bolt rifle from Alaska, a Sako repeater built on a FN action with a nice barrel and plain stock. Chambered in 30 Super Holland (300 Holland & Holland).

I happened to have bought some brass to suit on a whim years ago, so managed to get a set of dies & load some cartridges up for him before he took delivery of the rifle. It's quite comfortable to shoot to boot!
