101 year old woman driving an 81 year old car. You might recognize some similar attitudes about owning a special car, and the way much of the world responds to it. I especially appreciate her method for protecting the running boards at the end of the video. And I could only hope to be that sharp at 101.

What a fantasic lady. She even does the oil change as well !!

I came across this the other day, the longest known car / owner relationship, and the owner was 102 when he died.

Was he very, very short, or is the car very, very tall!

Two wonderful stories. That lady is simply marvellous!

Funny how with some of us cars just get under the skin. Other inanimate objects do too, of course. For me it's a Frederick Beesley sidelock ejector 12 bore shotgun; a John Phillip RA painting; an International Dragon yacht; a Braun Mach 2 lighter given to me by one of my sisters for my 21st. No idea why, they just do!

Richard, I now officially loathe you for introducing the possibility that my totally natural and exquisitely formed igneous memento took a trip through a factory for, erm, "tuning".

Fortunately for you, my cooler head prevailed, and a quick Google search reveals scores of original Pet Rocks with clearly "natural" surfaces. Thus, I rescind my loathing and return to admiring both my rock, and your command of the archives.

I can assure you that it is a 1933 Dragon, built by Alholmens Batvara in Sweden, original sail no S47. It was bought to the UK by JC Crosby Esq and became K74, raced on the Clyde. I am Hon Sec of the British Dragon Association and have responsibility for maintaining the archives for the older classic boats. Classic is defined for us as any boat built in wood before 1972.

The other is my own 1999 built modern fibreglass Dragon, which as you rightly point out, is not a classic, though of course she retains the classic lines of the original 1929 Johan Anker design.

lovely bits of kit although I doubt that is quite the right terminology for works of art, nevertheless a sign of respect in the West country tongue.
The blue of that spinnaker might look good on a sprint

One hopes you are joking yourself, But as we are on the subject of classics, the use of Shirley instead of "surely" is itself a Classic joke. {from the "Carry On" series isn't it?}
