Club Lotus Elan Section - An Update

I thought I would give you a quick bulletin on how things are going for the CLES. Bearing in mind we are taking this steadily, progress has been fair.
Of the CLES members who have so far signed up, you may be interested to know what percentage represent what Elan type:
S1 ? 7%
S2 ? 8%
S3 ? 18%
S4 ? 25%
Sprint ? 20%
Plus 2 ? 20%
Please don't read too much into this, I merely thought it would be of passing interest! Of equal interest - perhaps! - is the fact that only one of the CLES Team has so far signed up; well done Trevor! Even I have'nt yet done so.
You may also be surprised to know we have members not only from England, but also Wales, Scotland, Greece, Luxembourg, France, Canada, New Zealand, Denmark, United States, Finland and Somerset, John!
We are girding our loins to spill a wonderful amount of materiel onto the web site and start to get that all spinning efficiently, though it will take time; I'm afraid the day job comes first - usually! In addition, we are planning the 50th anniversary events including contacting the classic magazines with ideas for road test cars, organising an Alpine rally, being the car of the course at Shelsley Walsh and lobbying hard for a significant presence at Silverstone Classic and Goodwood Revival.
So a huge thank you to those of you who have joined (at http://www.clublotus.co.uk/elansection/lotuselans.aspx) and a huge boot up the jackshaft to those of us who haven't yet. Don't forget, it's all free.

You can join by registering your car. Any Elan enthusiast can join by registering themselves. And nope, it isn't just a register as I hope it makes clear on the page, which gives the aims and hopes for what we want to achieve.

So are we to conclude that "Somerset" is not in England or is there a country with the same name?...possibly ruled by a "King John the first"

Any ideas?

Works fine in Firefox 3.6. Can't comment on the horrible Chrome clones they insist on releasing now however.
Why do they always insist on fixing things that aint broke

OK I have registered.
Not keen on having a full address gathered - it depends how secure the club's records are - but it could be a godsend for anyone who wants to steal one!
So what next?
What is the intention of the section?

.......and I suppose only Z-tec engined Elans on the roads....
I've heard mutterings that the peasants are not happy with the extravagant lifestyle of King John

Reminds me of a tale told me by one of our specialist painters who is English and had been on holiday in Cornwall. A county that thinks it should be an Independant country and where tourists are known as 'grockles' and are not always welcomed.
He was stopped in one of those old fashioned petrol filling stations where they serve you the fuel on his way home and had asked to 'fill her up'. The old chap was eyeing the interior of the car which was full of kids and luggage/toys etc and whilst filling the car the conversation went like this:
Old chap: 'Tourist?'
Paint guy: 'Yes'
Old chap: 'On yer way home are ya'
Paint guy: 'Yes we are'
Old chap: 'Good!'
Paint guy - Dumbfounded but at the same time thought it hysterically funny.

Fair assumption!
Twincam engined Elans tolerated & +2's require a day permit.
BDA-G & Duratec engined Elans definitely prohibited; upstaging will not be tolerated!
Yes "the peasants" have refused to salute me when I pass them on my bike whilst on the shopping run.
Things must change or I will return to "the Fatherland"

Just got to love the way you find 'em Richard
That basket looks handy though!
I've got a smashing little black cocker spaniel pup playing in my back garden waiting for me to adopt him & he'd look a treat in that basket.
Trouble is, I'd get nothing else done if I devoted myself to a hound
Are we still on topic?
