Damn right, Gary.

This thread has already had one change of title to suit the postings, which is not a bad idea sometimes.

All stripes suck, they are there to hide a problem that does not exist. Same with two tone, not my thing at all.

Yes I was bored at work again but its a great colour (Nissan Solar Yellow) to be seen and with todays moron drivers, you need all the help you can provide for yourself. I was going to stripe the Coupe like the corral snake

+1 on that!

Been thinking about who that might me. I imagine that the "noted aficionado of classic automobiles", Brian Sewell, would have something to say, albeit with a plum up his ****...or maybe "Swiss Toni" could sum it up! :)

However, I think Shakespeare may have said it best..."Gilding the Lily"

Point of pedantry, your worship, that woz not wot the Bard writ:

Therefore, to be possess'd with double pomp,
To guard a title that was rich before,
To gild refined gold, to paint the lily,
To throw a perfume on the violet,
To smooth the ice, or add another hue
Unto the rainbow, or with taper-light
To seek the beauteous eye of heaven to garnish,
Is wasteful and ridiculous excess.

ANY Elan brought back from the dead is a good one. To buy an Elan that no one else would, bring it back in any form and share it is great. To do so that ALL of us would have a bit of fun over the last couple of years that the project has been stewing for is a generous and gracious thing. LOOK at all of the other restorations that we have missed out on because most of us don't think of presenting your plans to the public before its is even started. I think Alan's DuraLAN has benefited from the discussions on this forum too. Lots of positive talk with some genuine and sincere questions about if it was still an Elan and the ability to go OffFFFFFFFFF at any time. Whether you think this is a great idea or an abomination one thing for sure is it makes for good discussion.

Thank You Alan for footing the bills on this one.

So who is going to be the next DuraLAN owner?

I thought that I would bump this topic back up again with a link to Spyder's rehashed web site Cars For Sale http://spydercars.co.uk/CARS%20FOR%20SALE.htm

There are two zetec engined +2 cars, one twincam engined +2 car and an Evante Vegantune. The Vegantune and Twincam cars look good value, but the zetec's reflect continued interest in the conversion and the original build cost which is south of ?35k especially for the Raceline engined car.

Regards
Kindest regards

Another really dodgy set of stripes. This snap accompanied a 'Motor World' Elan test by an enthusiastic staff writer, GG
