Click on the pictures to enlarge and see that the rear bumper is removed to allow the stripe to be placed correctly.

I must admit I freaked when I saw Adam getting his power drill out, then realised it was a hot air gun.

There's no "right" way to fit sidewinder stripes, but making sure they wrap round the door and jambs prevents them lifting and going under the rear bumper removes any wrongness for the fit. As we have discussed previously, early factory photos show the rear stripe in a variety of positions before settling on blending in to the rear bumper on production cars. If it looks right and nothing in the geometry or placement offends the eye, then it's fine by me.
