Lotus Open Day Hethel, 1978

PostPost by: Elanintheforest » Tue Jul 05, 2011 9:55 am

These were snapped in the summer of '78. Sorry about the quality, but scans of prints taken from 35mm slides looses a bit.

So, is your car there?

Here are the first 10 pics....

Great snaps, thanks for posting them Mark.

At the time I was unable to attend as I was posted to BAOR in the depths of north Germany.

Anyone else got photos from that day they can share? Do join in!

I was there somewhere ...lots of proper Lotus cars, but....

My most vivid memory of the day was a very scantily dressed girl polishing one of the Sevens somewhere in the area of picture 29 :D

Back in those days I was 23 and my sap was rising

Wonderful nostalgic pictures, Thanks
John

Was there in a Ford Consul GT, iirc. I'd had enough of breakdowns in small plastic cars; for a while at least.

Thanks for showing your photos. :D

My friend and his wife, Carol and I were there in a borrowed merc'.. Mistake! We felt awfull to be one of the few to not have arrived in our cars. We were in the same Norwich Hotel as Graham Arnold and a load of other Lotus nuts...

The Navajo in marks pic' is the same as the one I posted a while back.. As a new Pilot I could not take my eyes off it.. Thought it was the muts nuts...

Flying and ticker problems don't mix. Ironically the last time I flew solo was back up alone from Norwich after dropping off another mate to pick up his newly repaired Esprit Turbo from the factory.. :?

Happy days.. I miss it like mad. Can you tell?

Great pictures Mark. A big thanks for taking the time to show us them.. TA....
