I hadn't remembered it before, but in today's episode of "The Prisoner (The Girl who was Death), Patrick McGoohan drove an Elan, not his usual Seven.

Was it any of these, Bill? This is the sales office car park at Cheshunt in '65, when KAR 120 C was just another sales demo car, a short time befiore she became a film star!

Early '65 I guess as there's no Elan Coupe. Otherwise, what a lineup!

It was a S3 DHC

That's a nice picture of much better times IMO

If I remember correctly the 120 number plates were meant to symbolise 120 mph to potential buyers.

Mark where do you keep on finding all of these fabulous pictures?

Number 6 drove a powder blue S3 dhc in 'The Girl Who was Death', it was a spoof of the Avengers - hence the Elan. I've always wondered about that powder blue Elan, it was a standard car (no wheel arch indicators or SE badges), but it had sill strips and KO's. The car had a wood rim wheel and ali kick plates in the doors, signifying it was a '66 car, but it was registered LVF 120E - 1967, I reckon Number 6's Elan was SJH 499D - Emma Peel's '66 Elan on different plates. Lotus or Graham Nearn used KAR 120C on two different 7's. Perhaps they wanted Number 6's car to look like the current model?

And here it is, nabbed from the 'net.

Lots of years of collecting, Louis. But I've recently been lent an archive by a long term Lotus nut, Jeff Fenton, for the Lotus Cortina website. That has a lot of Elan stuff in it as well. All will be revealed !!

In one episode, Mr McGoo had a body transplant with Nigel Stock who drove from the UK across Europe to Austria in the Seven to see a professor/barber, without taking any luggage, stopping for food, or a piss... followed by a "villain" in a Lotus Cortina who had a hand-held radio which could communicate with "headquarters".

I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

Number (elansprint)71, who are you working for?

Last week, Mazzini was an old lady in a wheelchair. You're new here, and you're one of them.

Numbers in a village that is a complete unit of our own society. A place to put people who can't be kept around. People who know too much or too little. A place with many means of breaking a man. :|

Oh that's because Number 6 escaped and went off to Ice Station Zebra, obviously he was re-captured and returned to the village shortly thereafter.

Actually he did escape in one episode and then was flown back (in a Vampire?) to pinpoint the location of The Village for "the authorities". Of course, it was "them" doing the flying and he was ejected out over "the island" and parachuted back into captivity.

Be seeing you.

Number 71 I think we're on the wrong forum, we should be on 'six of one'.

About twenty-five years ago I promised myself I'd drive my Elan to 'the Village' and one day, when it's fixed, I will.

Be seeing you.

PS It was a Gloster Meteor (probably used by the MB ejector seat company - I know I need to get out more...)

As I wrote my response I was unsure that DH fitted ejector-seats to the wooden Vampire pod.

Of course you folks have now forced me to open up my boxed DVD set again..........
