Elan M100 rear light protective covers

A friend of mine has been doing some carbon fibre work on an Elan. He also did some rear light protective covers, as the light clusters are quite exposed to items in the boot, especially if the boot is fully loaded.

Were / are these type of covers available for the Elan in OE format, or even aftermarket?

Also, strangely the metal bracket at the back of the light fitting differs between the left and the right rear light cluster, apart from the obvious fact that they are inverted - is this normal / standard?

Yes they had a moulded plastic cover held in place by a single plastic screw.
