997 NUR is back on the road after bits of it were rescued from a scrapyard; I've seen the finished article and it is very nice, however..... just how much of it is from the original car is a matter of conjecture.

I believe that JC passed this car on to Ian Scot Watson, photos of these early fixed heads usually show duct tape across the gap between roof and screen, in an attempt to keep the rain out.

The Crombac car was sold a couple of years ago after the creeping toad died.

Here is 997 NUR......I took the pics at Goodwood Revival a few years ago....about 2004 I think. it was in the entrants enclosure and I was told at the time it was owned by one of Jim Clarks ex mechanics.

Jim Clark's first Elan was 766BOO, a very early 1500 car, NUR was his second. Both passed on to Ian Scott Watson but neither of these were Radford cars.

I saw one of those cars - fairly sure it was NUR - at Goodwood and it had "Elan 1500" badges on. I couldn't help thinking that they must be fake, in the sense that they would have been replaced at the time the 1600 was fitted.

Yes it had 1500 badges on when I saw it.

Moving slightly off topic, I was just revisiting Mark's excellent LoCort site (at http://www.lotuscortinainfo.com/?page_id=420) and came across 550 VAR, described as Jim Clark's road car. So I would assume that he ran the Cortina before the 997 NUR Elan, though it was apparently fitted with Elan IRS - but when?

There is a thread on Piston Heads that mentions him driving a Cortina down a bobsleigh run, I have not heard of on ski slope though.

Anyway; how do I get rid of the mouse in my garage? I'm worried that it may eat bits of the stricken Elan or Mini, or both. Got some poison today, already had one of those electronic gizmos, maybe it is a deaf mouse? Certainly is a fat bastard; hope it is not pregnant.

Perhaps a candle light cheese dinner and gently breaking the news that 'we should be seeing other mice and he/she should be moving on to other digs ' ??? if that fails learn the pipes ---I can play Scots Wa Ha'e and we haven't had a mouse in the 5 years it took to learn the piece and there are always new neighbours to meet -I also learned how to get perfect pitch on the pipes ----its when you throw them in the dumpster and they hit an accordion --e

(But I'd recommend a trap, NOT poison. Poison likely to contain anticoagulants, they will slowly bleed to death. They get very thirsty and go looking for water to boost their blood pressure. You won't know where the hell it/they have gone to die until the smell gives a clue, or you put your foot in it...yeuchh!)
