I'm reasonably sure that plod did have at least one Elan way back when. It's photo is in one of the books, offisher.

Edit: Page 29 in the John Bolster book, it shows an S2.

That's right, though I think it was just for trials and never went into service.

The Sussex Constabulary did have a fleet of Lotus Cortinas - again I can remember a photo from one of the books. There may well have been others.

They had Mk 1 and Mk 2 Lotus Cortinas.

This was spotted at the Goodwood Festival of Speed a few years ago.. I remember the PC on the display was defending policing of the speed limits to the partisan crowd.. he was around 6'6"!
