Wonderful! Just the confidence boost I need before launching the trip to Gettysburg on Friday . (We are taking the long way around.) I fear that my wife is considerably less tolerant of automotive mischief than Barb Egan. (She has been prefacing all references to post-trip plans with the phrase "If we survive...") I hope that Peter will come to Gettysburg with his Elan (and fully-functioning electrical system and headlights).

I love the sound of a torque wrench in the morning. Sounds like... progress.

If you try to fly that Cub the way it is, then you ARE alone!

Jim, wish I was able to make it to LOG this year but we are committed.
In the same issue of R & T (October 2010) Peter's Side Glances column indicates he broke his left foot. Given the press lead times, I hope it is healed enough for him to make it to LOG.
Here is the link to his column about potentially loosing the faith in British cars:

A bit of a historical side-note:
I corresponded with Mr. Egan a few years back about Elans. I approached him about selling him mine because I recalled a mention in a Side Glances column from a few years before that about his fondness for the Elan. We went back and forth a bit, and ultimately he decided he would prefer something a bit closer, and not RHD. Later, he reported acquiring one.
So I take full credit for planting the seed in his mind and recruiting him to the fold. Well, a man can dream, can't he?

I have talked to Peter and he will not make it to LOG. His motorcycle accident was quite severe as he broke several ribs and has been recuperating slowly. He sent his best wishes to all and we can raise a glass to him there.
