Mike and Greg,
Excellent! as Mr. Burns would say. I'll bet we have eight or more Elans and some Plus 2 Elans as well. That should be enough to make the Elise/Exige crowd notice us, right

Hi All,
I to am going to make the trek east on I80 and might bring a couple old Loti and maybe let my sons will drive a newer one.
Might even toss in some shell of a body parts if that someone still wants them? Gary we haven't talked about the body of late but we are coming with a pickup box which can haul some bits.

I am looking forward to face to face meetings with all that I have talked with thru this site. Very nice to hear that Brian is coming again, got to meet him in Dallas and bought one of his books.

See ya all then!
Mark

Hi Mark

I am still planning on going and I think that I'll make it for both Saturday and Sunday. I asked my mom to look after Beauregard but I may bring him and the white F250 doghouse so he will have a place to stay. I will be sharing a room with him in the doghouse too. I think I have the pumpkin Bugeye sold so that will help fund the trip, at least there is a deposit check for it downstairs on the table. It is supposed to be picked up 2 weekends before the LOG, I hope that LATE registrations will be excepted (drive ins?). I need to find a trailer to use for the Elan if I am going to bring Cortina parts back with me. I'll bring the shift rails and tailhousing along too. Looking forward to a few laughs with all of those that I have met though this forum.

Gary and Beauregard

Gary,

Lotus Limited is always happy to accept your money. As a matter of fact, the later, the better for them because as time passes by, they increase their registration fee. $25 was added on July 2. Another $25 will be added on September 2.

Now that my trip start is only 30 days away, I thought I'd post our tentative itinerary on the Elan net site to see who we might connect with along the way. Remember these days are tentative in the sense that we have allowed a day to be used where needed. So, if you wish to join us for a meal, a portion of the trip or a libation, please let me know via PM and I will make sure you get my contact info on the road to confirm our whereabouts. So without further ado, here is the plan for the Lotus Owners Up To Something, ie the LOUTS trip to LOG 30. We welcome any of you to join us for any part of this adventure.

So it looks like there will be a showing by the Tiny's lunch crowd. I talked with Carl yesterday and he said he'll be there with the Elite, Dave is bringing the mkIX, and Bill is bringing the Plus2 or Elan Coupe. I plan on going and looked into campgrounds yesterday, and found one that Beau can stay at a half an hour away. Carl said there is an effort on to get the type 14 owners to show up, how many is uncertain but I hope that everyone can make it. My plans still hinge on the sale of the Bugeye, that is supposed to happen the Saturday before the LOG, I guess we will be either styling down in the Elan or if the sale doesn't happen peanut butter and jelly sandwiches all weekend. I got some parts to deliver and pick up too, I found a half a dozen input shafts for the ford gearbox that make great clutch alignment tools. These are 15 mm but wrap a bit of tape around them and instant 17mm tool, these will be given to anyone with an elan - plus2 that wants one, first come first gone. I am hoping that the weather will be at its finest, just in case I am going to put the hardtop on the S2 Elan (even though it leaks), some how it seems to be tempting fate without it and a heater in October, but the hell with it. If you can make it come out and play, I am not registered yet and hope to do so on the day I arrive. I would like to get there on the Thursday afternoon but as with everything in my life, when it happens, if it does, I?ll be there?

Having never been to a LOG event, and being local for this one, which day is the better one to attend saturday or sunday? Should I register for meals on saturday? Anyone planning to do the autocross event on sunday? How about the monday event at Summit Raceway? Thanks, Dan

Hi Dan,

I will also be attending and have been to a few out our direction. I would suggest the Saturday events for sure as the car show and afternoon will be fun. The dinner is a good time if they have a good line up of speakers. Fun to listen to war stories of the past and present. We normally stay for Sunday and do the drive or autocross and tech sessions.
Always a drive home so we either leave on that evening or early on Monday.

Look forward to meeting you as we have exchanged a few helpful hints, well at least I hope we have.

Cheers
Mark

I just sent my check in for saturday including dinner and sunday including the autocross. I would love to do the track day on monday, but I can't afford to be out of the office any more. Need to make more money to pay for more parts. I'd like to upgrade the suspension on all four corners this winter with TTR fast road springs, shocks and adjustable rear platform. See you there. Dan

Hope you all have a great time. I'd love a chance to participate in one. Maybe when I relocate to Maine in a year or two.

Jim,
Don't give up hope. LOG 31 will be in Las Vegas next year. Or will you be in Maine by then?

Is there a date yet? Only about 300 miles away, a nice easy ride.

Rob,
They generally don't announce the exact date and even the location until the Sunday night banquet at LOG but I kind of let the cat out of the bag I guess. I would expect a fall date when Vegas isn't too hot. Perhaps mid October  :?: We will know by October 10th of this year for certain.

Thanks Ross. I will likely not move to Maine until Spring of 2012 (assuming the world survives the Mayan Doomsday) to keep my son in the same school for the next two years, so I might well be able to join up. Only downside is that the drive from here to Vegas is pretty boooooooring, and I say that even though I love driving in the desert. I'll have to find a route with at least one curve in it, just so I can stay awake! :

Actually, I'll probably go out CA67 to CA78 and down Banner Grade to Scissors Crossing, then down S2 to CA98 and over toward Yuma. Just past Gordons Well, I can take S34 up to CA78 and on up to US95. Then at Vidal Junction I can take CA62 over to AZ95 and on up to I40 then US93, Cross the dam and then to Vegas Baby!!!

Might be fun after all. And I'm sure that the casinos have forgotten all about that little misunderstanding from the last time I was in the neighborhood. I mean everyone counts cards on occasion, Right?
