Weirdest Lotus Ever

A couple of years ago, there was a thread on this forum discussing electric cars, noise, anti-noise and the research done a few decades ago into making a car sound like something it isn't to the driver. After all, the sound of a throbbing V8, or some other engine configuration has a major contribution to the driver experience. The thread suggested that an electric car would need a sound system to artificially generate appropriate sounds inside the car..... We even went so far as to suggest that such a system would need something to simulate pitch changes due to gear changes.

Do Lotus people read this forum?
Weird.

An Elise fitted with this system was on show to anyone wanting a demonstration at Hethel at the Lotus 60th anniversary celebrations. It worked well in the somewhat limited environment of the car park outside one of the testing garages.

An electric Evora? Shocking. I would not give it an ohm in my garage.
Presumably this is spin-off work from that Tesla thing that they build?

Brilliant idea!
Espescially the "artificial" noise add on.
The Lotus Engineering newsletter explains their range extender engines.
I assume it has much less battery than a Tesla, so it can still be light weight AND high performance.
Shame it would be out of my price range.
Apparently a Tesla is ?90k
An petrol Evora is ?50k
So this would probably cost ?100k+
