As mentioned on another thread, the December 2012 issue of Road & Track has a nice article for the Elan's fiftieth. It includes a comparo to the Miata.
Here is a link, although this article is not on-line.

Just been up to our local newsagents and leafed through Classic Cars. There is an article on Miles Wilkins and his buff envelope brown (actually L06 Burnt Sand) Elan S4.
Anyway, looking at the shelf I counted 39 - yep 39 - motor magazine titles. There's even one now called Mog, for Morgans - whatever they are! That number excludes anything on tractors or buses. I find it extraordinary that in this day of the internet there are now more titles than there were before it's arrival. Do these mags actually make money?
I should add that I live in a dozy small market town with not a huge motoring vein, though Royce and Bentley shop P&A Wood are in the next village and the selective vintage car engineer Arthur Archer has his workshop in the high street.

James,
My bet is, other than Egan and Wilson, everyone at R&T was born after Lotus ended Elan production.

Yes, I read the R&T article on the Elan, and wrote a letter to the editor about the slantedness of the article.
They claimed the Elan is fragile, but how many production cars have completed the Paris to Dakar rally?
For reliability, anybody can drive any car into the ground. Many of us have Elans with well over 100K miles on the clock. Mine was more reliable than my girl friend's American sedan, and less expensive to run also.
I suspect that the more we drive our cars, the more reliable they are.

Nuthin to do with Lotus, but, as nearly always, a very good read:

My friends (some of them) have really good push bikes, does that compare with his friends?

There was a 4-page +2 buyers guide in the June 2011 issue of Classic Cars in the UK.
Does anyone have it? Is it any good? Classic Cars have sold out of back issues and I would like to get hold of a copy (a scan of the article or the whole magazine).
