Evora

PostPost by: Coupe » Sat Jun 06, 2009 1:52 pm

Just been to test drive the Evora this morning at Stratton Motor Co.
Fantastic - really well put together and even fitted the wife in the rear seats.
So quiet after the Elise and Elan - you really could drive to the South of France in a day in it.
Well done Lotus and to Stratton Motor Company (free wheel alignment on the Elan while I was driving the Evora was a generous gesture).
Caparo was interesting but at ?250,000 not sure how many we will see in East Anglia.

How much is the Evora?

Not impressed by the looks of that Crapaero thing.

Basic Evora ?49,000 - ?60,000 with all the extras.
Seems a lot of money but I suppose, taking inflation into account, the Elan was probably in the same price range in the sixties. I cannot remember what the average annual salary was then but an Elan probably cost two years average salary.

Hello Ben, please tell me about the back seats and headroom in the Evora.
Thanks, Eric

The Evora was shown at the LOG 29 event at Birmingham, Alabama (US). Everyone had a chance to sit in it. I found the backseat and headroom (in the rear) virtually non-existent. Probably more in a 911. But that doesn't really bother me. What I found really disconcerting, and it seems it hasn't been mentioned anywhere, is the lack of space for the left foot, in a LHD car (don't know about RHD version). The wheel well is right next to the clutch pedal and the left leg and foot have nowhere to go. Certainly more room in my Elan for this purpose. Can't wait to drive one, though :D

So is there any more room for rear seat passengers than in a +2 ?

Probably not much more. I'm sure the Evora is wider.
