While the door hardware is out for chrome plating, a couple of bungee cords are pressed into service.

I love the sound of a torque wrench in the morning. Sounds like... progress.

Good Start!

Once you start removing stuff from the interior, just keep going till all that is left is bare fiberglass. Smooth the rough spots. Paint with sound deadening paint. Replace the windows with lexan.

Now it is much lighter in weight. The advantage is you never have to worry about water ingress rotting the carpet, water stains on the head liner, etc., etc. And it becomes much easier to pull the body and do other maintenance.

Gets you back to the roots of Lotus as exemplified by the VI, Seven, XI.

I was seriously surprised just how light my door felt when I took out the glass, frame and motor to change the wire rope, I know that sounds dumb but it REALLY felt about a tenth of the weight.

Hello, does anyone have any figures on chassis weights? Original versus galvenized original design versus any other replacement choices? I've read an original Elan chassis comes in at about 75 pounds, is this right? Eric
