A Can Of Baby Worms

I hesitate to bring it up, but, I've noticed how often the term "Baby Elan" has been used recently. Usually I couldn't care less, however I sometimes drift philosophically and realise this web site will be around long after we're all gone. Let's give the Elan it's due.
Lotus built an Elan, and then Lotus built an Elan +2. It's that simple. We all know one is smaller than the other but they are two different cars.
How can the baby be older than it's offspring?
It's a Lotus Elan.

Eric

(Did you hear the one about the MGB that had a baby? It turned out to be a Midget.)

Agreed :D
The Elan +2 was simply known as the +2 at the factory!

I always assumed "baby" was used to distinguish the Elan from the 1990s Elan, not the +2.

The 1990s Elan was the M100

The Elan begat the +2

And I thought the Midget (Sprite) came before the MGB

Lets throw this 'baby' out with the bath water!

I find that if you talk to some (non Lotus nuts) about the Lotus Elan, that they think of the plus two first (for some reason). You then follow up by saying, "No", the little one or baby Elan. So for me it is more about it's size than it's age or being an off spring.

You got to admit, it is also kind of small cute in a macho sort of "big bollocks" way. If that makes sense.

I fully agree with Tim about throwing the "baby" out with the bathwater but we over here are in the middle of a really severe drought so we don't throw out our bathwater."Bucket back" is keeping physios all over the land flat out (pardon the pun).
Cheers,
Chris

Tim, I think you're right but I couldn't resist that small (baby, midget), joke. The B and Midget arrived here in the states within nine months of one another.
Is Sprite the name of Austin Healey's first child?

Emma Peel; that's all you need to say.

I do rather like the term +0 though.

+0 baby

My son isa +0 baby. Called Lucas.
Had he been a she than it would have been Emma Elise Elan... Unfortunately my wife didn't approve of Seven as a name for a boy. Hence Lucas, prince of darkness.

By the way, why don't just call the Small-But-Big-Bollocks-Cute-Elan by "shape", hence becoming Elan FHC or DHC.
