If it can't be fixed with a hammer it must be an electrical fault

Some one beat me to my dream garage idea---4 bays with 12 foot ceilings with two lifts attached to the house.
I was given a photo of a car I should know, but don't, that was next to my Elan. I would consider it in a dream garage. WHAT IS IT?

It's a Ginetta from the late 60s / early 70s Sarto, a G4, but not sure of the series.

Kinda cool looking in a quirky sort of way, I like it.
As for my Dream garage.
My Plus two
My Seven
Don't think I'd sell either even if I was loaded and could afford more exotic stuff (I'd be able to afford a bigger house with a bigger garage anyway!)
A TR5 in dark blue
Ferrari 275 GTB/4 in yellow
and for family trips to classic car shows/runs a modernised Mk2 Jag in Brooklands green.

Hi Guys...
Man some of you have expensive tastes...
I (through sheer luck) have some of what I want. The lift is a godsend and having a decently equipped workshop is also super to have.
Car wise I would love to have back the 1st lotus +2 I owned.
Then.
My Sprint. My Cortina savage. and my Mk 1 lotus Cortina GPB 432C (anyone seen it?) Ferrari 250gto ....MMMM! ...Porsche 911 turbo drophead the new one. And a decent 4x4.. You could go on and on and on....Dreams! But I'd be very happy with that lot.
And one of Ed's poles suitably populated...
Wonderfull thought. Would need 2 good lottery wins though.
Alex...

Ok. I'll bite. First and foremost a garage, well lit, under floor heating, a lift, an area with a drain for washing cars - preferrably one to fit at least eight cars (the top five, work space for a car, woodshop (walled off from the rest) and a small office/clean room area). For the cars:
Chaparral 2D
Lotus Elan S3 FHC
Mini Cooper S (the real one, not the Bini)
Corvette ZR1
Porsche 356C
The top two are fixed, the others may change but I'll always enjoy driving a real Mini!
When you stop dreaming, it's time to pull the other foot into the grave!!

I don't know about a "dream" garage, but this is what I had in mine for years:
Jaguar MK II 4sp, OD, wire wheels. Holds 4, good luggage capacity, good tourer.
Lotus Elan FHC.
Plus a mechanic trained in both cars, so they were both "daily drivers" and used for both commuting and trips with no reliability problems.
The Jaguar eventually got sold on to a person who restored the car (had the car for 10+ years, sold it for more than I paid for it). I wish I had another, but the price of good MK IIs is getting up there.
No comments necessary for the Elan.

I only seem to dream of the cars I can nearly afford, never the really exotic stuff....hence:
chrome bumper MGB convertible, old english white, red leather interior
80s Merc SL, not bothered which engine
Triumph GT6 mk3, galvanized everything.
My finished +2
80s BMW E30 M3
Last edition of the original Mini

I am now an ex-Elan owner but will drop by from time to time with some suitably inappropriate comments.

All right, I started this over two years ago, and now, I promise, I'll go back through this whole thing and list the cars by number/percentage, the favorites on down in my next post. It should only take me a couple of months of addition, in the meantime, modify your choices if you like,,,,,,, and new members, let us know yours. Eric

Eric,
Had a look a couple of times at this thread, and each time I had trouble in making my mind up, in the end I thought What the H*ll. My favourite cars would be in there, so being firmly fixed in the 70's they are,
Jim Hall's Chaparral 2F saw it win in 67 at Brands Hatch
also in there were Ford GT 40 and Lola T70.
Superceeded by the Porsche 917.
Of course unless Fran Hall of RCR cars ( www.race-car-replicas.com ) gets in touch with a gift of any of the above except the Chaparral, then my Elan +0 is here to stay.
Needless to say I am an Historic Racing fan, I would have any of the above over any other road cars any day.

Then you'll appreciate this. I had a chance to sit in it at Goodwood a few years ago when Jim Hall brought three of the Chaparrals to the Festival of Speed. This photo was taken in April 2004 when the Petroleum Museum opened its Chaparral exhibit in Midland, Texas. In the background are the Chaparral workshops. Jim Hall drove the 2F from Chaparral headquarters to the museum a few miles up the road.
