Let the pictures (non-elan cars) do the talking 2.
Nice one Mark, I do love a Mk 2 LC in Ermine white without the stripe...so much that I'm currrently making a reshell just like that.
Nah the Twink was already 10 years old when I bought it. When I got it, it a rust hole in the floor you could put your foot through (but no other rust anwhere, go figure) Spent a LOT of money on that car, including a full engine rebuild by Bob Holden. Expensive but....magic!
Here's what I sold the TC Escort to buy. Wish I still had 'em both. If only we knew then.....

My 1st car was a Mk1 Consul which was written off when a motor bike came through the windscreen.
2nd car was a Riley RME which cost me ?5 to dump at a scrap yard.
This was my 3rd car which I bought when I was 21 (later sold for ?27 10s)

And I bought this when I was 23.
The dealer had an Aston which I wanted to buy (can't remember what variety of DB it was) - but I couldn't afford the ?650 price tag. So I ended up with a red Mk2 with wires instead.

Almost ashamed to say that my first car was a new 1979 allegro estate (or all agro as they used to be known).
The floor regularly filled with water and when I questioned this, the dealer told my that I must have been parking it on a slope - they all did that
Found a stock photo, can't bear to see myself standing beside it with so much hair

Glorious weather - so I took my Italian beauty out for drive this morning.
Covered over 100 miles - including a visit to Loch Etive.

I don't think that you guys in the US would have seen these...so a little introduction.
Take a small family Renault Clio 1.2, front engine and front wheel drive, throw away the engine and transmission, the back seats and the back half of the floorpan / chassis. Make up new subframes front and rear, and fit a quad cam 3 litre V6 with 6 speed box behind the front seats, with rear wheel drive.
Add a straight through exhaust without the cats, some trick suspension and brakes, and it goes, handles and sounds like a race Ferrari. It was produced by RenaultSport (Dieppe) and TWR (Oxford) between 1999 and 2005, with about 1800 produced .
It's so much fun, but very expensive on the licence points!!

Some amazing cars in here! So great to see such variety.
Mark, I've just been looking at the Clio V6 last night thinking whether I could make a case for it as I've always wanted to try one. Heart says YES!, but the head keeps saying that it looks so impractical it would make the Elan look like a family saloon. Love the colour, it's perfect for it.
