PostPost by: alan.barker » Sat May 08, 2021 8:06 am

Well here we go again.
Nobody came to collect on Friday and NO Email to give reason or an excuse, NO communication.
I had to phone again to ask what happened.
Spoke to someone after long wait, got lots of sorry sorry really sorry Sir.
Rebooked for Monday 10th May, wait and see.
If i need transport in the future i have a strong feeling they won't be my first port of call.
Let's see if i am FOURTH TIME lucky.

you're getting me worried as I was considering asking them to carry a box UK>France if I get a chance, eventually...

is the pickup from a residential area? have they offered any explanation for the multiple pickup reschedule ?

Hi Nigel?
please wait untill they have done the job then i can give you some guide lines.
At the moment i'm not tooooo happy with the service.
At the moment lots and lots of sorry sorry sorry Sir. But it's not sorry sorry Sir that will get the Hardtop to me in Brittany, it's action and proper organisation that will do that.
When each time the collection failed there was NO professional follow up or Email to say collection had failed.
Only now after the Forth failed collection they are chasing the problem, very sad indeed.
My Crated Hardtop is ::
137cms x 148cms x 60cms and weighs 85kgs and it's costing me an Arm and a Leg. Price £424.85 for me not cheap.

What's the size and weight of the Box/Crate you want to send.
be careful the Crates are heavy and my crate alone weighs 60kgs
You need a specialist to make it because it must be Certified to ISPM 15 treatment because of Brexit. International shipping requirement.

that could be as small as 30x35x45 and between 30 and 40kg at the most - I've had a similar shipment US>UK a year and a half ago and it went pretty smoothly...

Hi,
your parcel is much smaller and the first failure "they said or how the story goes" was planned for normal van collection. My hardtop is too big for van collection "they say".
For me i'm not interrested in stories or bla bla i want professional logistics and action.
If you use a Wooden Pallet or Crate it must be approuved with ISPM 15 treatment or it will get blocked for sure.
They can supply all paperwork to travel with the goods (waybill, packing list, etc.
I Emailed the paperwork/documentation to the person at collection point to print and put in plastic bag to travel with the goods.
Today Tuesday 11th May 2021 should be the collection date. If it fails today the 5th try i will need to consider my next move carefully.

Well,
Here we go again. They turned up today 11th May in a SMALL VAN said it was tooooo big and left NO COLLECTION . This has become a very very bad JOKE.
On the Paperwork it is clearly written size and weight.
I will try again for a 6th collection attempt
A suivre.....

Sixth collection was ok with help from the person who made it showing how to load it in a small van.
Got lost in depot at Worcester for 9 days because they said the Label had fallen off (or so the story goes :? ).
I insisted someone must do a physical walkaround the Depot and look everywhere for it.
Which are i insisted three times they finaly did a walkabout in the Depot and found it.
Now on it's way somewhere between Bristol and Nantes. Then Nantes to my home.
a suivre..........

To finish this saga and info for someone to Import from UK to France.
It took 6 ( yes SIX) attempts for Transglobal Express ( who use or are part of DHL) to collect Hardtop. I had to Talk/Follow EVERY STEP on the Phone MANY TIMES. I was the person to ORGANISE FORKLIFT ( i thought this was their job with the very high price i paid).
I suggest you think about declared Insured value as that is what you will pay Customs TVA (french VAT on). Make sure Invoice from Supplier is same value.
I have to pay 138 Euros on a delared/Insured value of £300.
Thats 20% on the £300 + charge de Douane + frais de Douanes which the Total is 138Euros.
FROM MY SAGA I CAN NOT RECOMMEND THE TRANSPORTER I USED.
cheers

Hi Alan. That is quite a saga! I've been following it with interest. I hope after all that effort, not to mention expense, you will be very happy with the hardtop. You deserve it. Cheers Lyn

Thanks Lyn7,
the Hardtop is fantastic and a true credit to Duncan Reuben at TVR Classics.
It just needs the edges profiling a little to follow the contours of the body. All TVRs each one is different, even from one side to the other but i can live with that no problem.
Just waiting for a pair of Triumph TR6 "hood front locking assemblies" to arrive. Same method as on Ragtop to hold to top of Windscreen.

It's ok Phil,
it's not your fault.
I think the problem was it was very big and nobody read the paperwork to see the size.
I've got it now so that's the most important.
No hard feelings
