Yes, I have an opinion, I don`t care. Is that an opinion ?
If I was there I think after two laps I would be looking for the beer tent.
It looks like a more expensive version of Scalextric to me. Maybe it is because I am not competitive.

what keeps the interest for the fans in not always what is right. Recall Donald Trump.

Are you referring to lap 1, turn 4, or the final. Or any of the calls this season. I pay attention to the first few laps, then maybe a bit at the end, because most of it is not real racing. Read the recap, and its all been tabloid for years as far as I can tell.

One thing is very apparent to me, once Hamilton retires. And Max has 8 titles, he will get more of a taste of big business.

The real robbery is that under present Safety Car rules lapped cars are allowed to unlap themselves, thus removing the need for following cars to lap the cars that the leaders had had to.

Why didn't Mercedes pit under Virtual Safety Car like Red Bull so they too would have been on new tyres? As speed is controlled they shouldn't have lost track position. They often make mistakes under Safety Car, ask George.

I recall they would have been past the pit lane, and then they would have lost track position.
Young Michael Masi is sure to take it over this. I think this is how its always been, human decisions on the rules. Too many calls this year which have affected it all, but some get away with too much like Max’s aggression.

If was a farce, while the action happened on the track the winner was chosen by the stewards. While the idea of a final lap shot out for the championship sounds good, there was no way that was what was going to happen due to the tyre offsets and Max had probably 95% chance of winning it.

I've been watching F1 for 25 years and this event but also the while stewarding this year has me wondering about carrying on watching. No doubt I will but this is impacting the sport negatively.

Personally I really think Masi needs to go, ideally he'll resign. While it's been one of the best seasons with the battle, the stewarding has been terrible but worse inconstant. It's not an easy job but it's not impossible* and from the outside looks like a group suffering from poor a leadership.

*Give me a few minutes I could come up with a bar set of guidelines to deal with overtaking and running people off the tracks.

Well done Max. Very talented, however a bit too aggressive for my liking.
On the day the fastest driver in the fastest car didn't win because of other events. It's what's called racing.
Masi, however, has shown no authority or consistency in a number of races and I suspect has lost the confidence of the Teams.

After going to Silverstone a few years ago to soak up the atmosphere ( there was very little ) , decided that the best way to view was on the Telly , and it was....this soon became boring , so started to watch the highlights ( how you can fit the highlights of a one and a half hour race into two and a half hours I don't know ) so now just record the " highlights " , and try to filter out the chaff...

In the end , half an hour of interesting racing.

I'm with you on this Eric.

Masi made one decision and they was pressured by Red Bull and changed his decision.

F1 went Hollywood on this - many people tend to watch the 'finals' of many sporting events when they typically do not watch all year long, the Olympics, World Cup, World Series, Superbowl etc and the holders of these events are hoping for subscriber attention and retention.

And how better to attract and retain these casual viewers?

Create controversy, manufacture and manipulate and watch those revenues increase - nothing really wrong with that except when something of this nature occurs.

The rules are simple - either NO (lapped cars) overtaking is allowed or ALL of the lapped cars are allowed to overtake.

Also Verstappen did "overtake" in the strictest sense of the word...

Bottom line and regardless of who could/should have won - the victory was corrupted by a weak individual.

Masi caved in to pressure and/or was give a lifetime supply of Red Bull...

If Masi had followed the rules and let no cars past it would have been much more exciting. It would have taken Max a few corners to get past the back markers and made it down to last few corners if he could get Lewis or not.

If Max got him, there there be very little question if if he won it on merit it not.

Controversy attracts the casual viewer, the "excitement" as you mentioned above would not necessarily have retained those casual viewers. - agreed about the excitement (and my preference) and Masi should have stuck with the original decision but he caved in to pressure.

Too weak to to be in that position.

But at least he has a lifetime supply of Red Bull.

I was rooting for Max but feel the outcome was manipulated by twisting the rules to his advantage. The most exciting part of the race was Perez/Hamilton battle. :)
