Hi folks, Looking to buy a dual action sander for work on a body shell. Frosts are currently offering an air driven 180mm air driven sander for under ?40. Seems remarkably cheap to me - any thoughts? (Air supply is no problem, I have a large capacity compressor)

Cheers,

Martin B

I use DA sanders allot being a Painter, my advice would be to buy one as light weight as possible (Palm sanders are great) and fit it with a Foam Interface pad.

Big DA's or Electric DA's are ok if you want some thing with a Grind facility or no Compressor but they are heavy and tend to take the fun out of it quite quick (Unwieldy and take effort to move about)

You tend to find the Heavier air DA's are the cheap ones and the lighter they go the more they cost. Dust extraction is another thing that bumps the price up.

You can buy a Machine mart DA like this https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/clarke- ... on-sander/ which if you notice has no Dust extraction facility's and is made from Steel, it will last for ever but will be a chore to use for long periods.

Personally i'd pay the extra and get some thing like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SEALEY-AIR-PA ... xyzi9Sm7yV it's still on the cheap side but it would be lighter and has a Vacuum take off to pick up dust.

I'd advise using one of these too to stop the 50p effect http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/D-A-Interface ... Sw-vlVo9XR just make sure you get the correct hole arraignment.
