CC'ing a head

PostPost by: john.p.clegg » Sun Jul 19, 2015 6:08 am

Dear All

When CC'ing a head does one use a flat perspex plate fitted over the combustion chamber....if so,has anyone found that the lip of the valve stands proud of the head? What to do?

Thanks
John

I used a flat perspex plate but the lip of the valve was below the face of the head so no problems. I think I would have dremelled a crescent out of the plate if I had found otherwise. My perspex was plenty thick to have done that.

Yes with a shaved head the lips of the inlet valve especially a 1.625 inch valve can sit above the head face.
I just level the head and fill the chamber carefully to the level of the face without using a cover plate.

cheers

Use a head gasket between the head and perspex, then minus the calculated volume of the head gasket from the total cc's.
