side entry caliper line length

PostPost by: gjz30075 » Mon Sep 19, 2022 4:31 pm

For those who are using the side entry brake line type caliper, vs top entry, what is
the hose length needed? ie, from the tab on the shock tower to the entry point
on the caliper?

Hi Greg, here is a pic of one of my original side entry hoses, stretched out, it’s just a little over 13 inches.

When I had AN hoses made up, they were 11 inches without the AN fittings. Very happy with the fit.

Rears measure 14.5.

Thanks Mike, good to know. I currently have top entry calipers with a 12" hose and it's a bit
long, rubs on the upper arm on turning. It's another 3" or so to reach the caliper. If you're happy
with 11", then a 12" length should be fine.

I had the brake lines rubbing on the suspension too, so I fitted PVC spiral plastic around the outer fabric, to take any 'erosion'. It's the stuff usually used to hold bundles of wire together to make a loom.
