Rear standard spring caps

PostPost by: Hawksfield » Thu Sep 02, 2021 1:32 pm

Hi

What's the solution to replacement rear standard spring cap replacement.
I believe they are Anglia and unobtainable.

Any help appreciated
John

I sold a good pair last year so second hand will be the way forward.

There ought to be a ready supply from those who have gone the narrow spring route - I would contact Spyder and see if they have some left over from narrow spring conversions

Yes, keep a watch on eBay as they come up from time to time. Also if the ‘D’ in the hole for the damper rod is rounded they can be repaired.

John,

I have bought two of these from Spyder many years ago. They are a fabrication rather than being pressed in one piece, but seem to be OK.

Hope this helps,

TTR also sells replacements:

The narrow ones are fabricated not pressed and guess these might also be.

weight 2kg each... I would have thought they'd be a competition version ;)

Hi All
Thanks for the info. The TTR spring seats are for lower spring seats not the same as the ford spring cap,
Which suit the original lotus springs

I suspect they are reasonably thick steel but I somehow don't believe 2Kg is correct, even for a pair. Maybe 1KG for a pair.

Yes good point, apologies missed that when scanning through the options. (Useful to know if I i don't like the narrow spring setup I am currently installing.)

Might have a pair under the bench somewhere if you are still looking as I’ve changed to the narrow springs.
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine!

Bigbaldybloke

Thanks for that, I was thinking for the future and not desperate so I knew what was out there I think at the moment my solution will be to weld and re cut the "D" hole.

Thanks again I will keep yours in mind.
