Are there any vendors selling Panasport bolt on wheels for a Elan S2?

Can’t regular knock on be drilled?

Even if the casting allowed for such drilling the "meat" necessary to receive and retain "your nuts" might be marginal without additional welding.

As I am old and in the way, and probably don’t know.
I had always reckoned, manufacturers drill per bolt patter. I doubt they make special centres per pattern cast or forged. Maybe this is new techniques, and back in the day (60’s) they did. From recollection, the elan wheel (even RDent reproduction) use a standard 13” x 5 or 5.5 rim, and the centre bolt or knock on is pre drilled, then welded to rim. Which doesnt stop one from drilling bolt holes.
I recall a thread on here comparing the Minilite to the Panasport. At the time Revolution, Minilite and Panasport having all provisions for peg drive K/O, and then drilling for bolt. Because the Panasport had off casting, the comments were the 5 pegs do not fully engage. Thought the racers were the ones really complaining, as it didn’t seem important for fast road. Though I can see if your towing a load with your elan and hit the brakes, you might find you keep going, but your wheels would break apart and you would be ridding the chassis at that point?
I am running Panasport knock on, and am not towing.

Ted Taylor, "Taylor Made Classic Cars", has for sale a set of new bolt on Minilites for the Elan. They are listed for an S1 but I think S2 may be the same. :)

You can still buy panasport wheels from them http://www.panasport.com Email [email protected]

The z light wheels come in 13, 14 and 15" sizes. In the past I've bought their Formula Ford, for racing use only prolite wheels on an Elan which had 26R flares on.

Cheers

Just curious, what is the difference between them?

Panasports look the cleanest, and are the best made.
Too bad about the knock on-peg alignment. Which is why racers don't use them. But if your using the octagon nut, or safety wire the eared spinners...

The appearance and quality is better in my opinion. Other than that I have had numerous sets of Minilites on my classic Minis so I want a change.
