Once more, with feeling, rear shock recommendations?

PostPost by: tdskip » Fri Apr 30, 2021 1:15 pm

Good morning/afternoon. I am aware this has been a subject of much discussion over the years but parts availability and recommendations appears to be somewhat ever changing so I wanted to asked for the latest recommendations on rear shocks for fast road use.

I am more concerned with drivability and having the car be comfortable for use than ultimate performance. The car in question is a 1969 S4 drop head.

Thank you in advance for the coaching.

I think a single adjustable low pressure gas shock like Spax would be fine. Adjust to your level of comfort, especially if you are on the original stock springs.

I wound up going with AVO on on a friend's recommendation.

I do have a full set of new F/R Spax in box in my spares stash.
There is no cure for Lotus, only treatment.

On the Elan S3 I have to replace the rear shock absorber rod stop rubber (adjustable in hardness and ride
height) but I have a narrow spring
Given the different choices, which one would be the right one
