Lotus Elan and Lotus Elan Plus 2 Forums

Hallo!
I’ve just purchased four wheels that shown the RudgeWithworth label. The wheels need some proper sand blasting, coating and paint, but the nice labels will be definitely destroyed. What I have to do?

My understanding is the original wheels were manufactured by Rubery Owen.... I'm very happy to be corrected if thats not the case.

Well Rudge-Whitworth patents don't apply to Lotus wheels so you can destroy the labels with a clear conscience.

I've never seen the Rudge Whitworth logo on an Elan wheel, and as the OP says the wheel design does not use any RW patents and were made by Rubery Owen. The wheels look to have been painted previously and only the last Sprints and some Plus 2S's had black painted wheels with the Plus 2's having chromed rims. so I would suspect that a previous owner had added them. I'd go ahead and paint them.
