Lockdown Competition

PostPost by: Matt Elan » Mon Apr 20, 2020 2:12 pm

In these strange times let's have a bit of fun.
While doing my handbrake and a few other odds and sods - see my other thread I came across this little problem. Who can identify what is wrong with the following - apart from the rust, decay and general decrepitude :(
- the pictures are of my rear 'A' frame attachment points to the chassis... Over to you:

Hi Matt,
on the Club Lotus Forum they do the same and say "Ki Hou Kan Koi".
I think it means what is this or something like that and it's an excellant idea. For Anoraks of course
We need something during the Lockdown after all the jobs have been done on the Loti/Lotuses

I don't :D :D

I just keep moving to another job, and when I cannot get the parts, just find another!

I should confess to my dear wife that if Covid gets me, she will never be able to realise anything from my Elan as no one will know what needs to be done - eg the car is standing there quite innocently, but who is to know the gearbox is propped up by a couple of ⅜ bolts resting on the carrier half held on by two 5/16 bolts.. :? :?

Good news is I finished the front wiring loom this afternoon. It just needs joining up to the back now - but little is marked on what goes where.. :D :D

Sorry - just realised this has nothing to do with a competition - unless anyone wants to guess what goes where...

Jesus,
it's not even 6 pm surely your not wine tasting already.
No serious at least the wires on a Lotus are colour coded so not difficult. On my TVR 3000S all the wires are ALL black  :?

It's alright for you guys - but I'm not sure I'll ever finish.......

I do drive the car but that doesn't stop me tinkering.

Perhaps I need another project.....

Another half hour maybe..

Many a conversation I had with them on their black wires. I am close behind them though and use black, red and green - neg., pos. and switched pos. Although as I have loomed in the Emerald wires, it is a bit easier as they use a colour convention!

We are still drifting off competition...

Warning - name dropping here!
When I interviewed Oliver Winterbottom for my tvr book he explained that they used all black wire on the Tasmin with markers on the ends as it was significantly cheaper than using coloured wire. Not much consolation if the markers fall off

The markers were not good quality and did fall off. Their designers admitted the markers were only to assist assembly.
They questioned why we saw it a problem - after all, they questioned, why would you remove any connections without marking them yourself?
I could never argue that!
