Spax - Adjustable rear inserts

I have adjustable rear spax inserts, older ones from Dave Bean. When adjusting for stiffness, the shaft just spins around endlessly giving me no idea where the adjustment is. Is there a limit to the number of turns available? Does the shaft have to be all the way in or out to allow adjustment?
Thanks
Chris :)

They may be the same as koni competition adjustables where the shaft has to be pushed fully in to engage with the adjuster at the bottom of the tube then turned. The pain is they can't be adjusted once fitted. Hope this helps,
Mick

Thanks Mick
I tried that and it didn't seem to make much difference. I expected it to bottom out one way or the other but the shaft seemed to just turn endlessly. :)

Thank you Urs
The instructional PDF was very helpful. I had been trying to adjust the inserts off the car which allowed the piston to turn. Holding the piston while adjusting solved the problem.
Thanks
Chris :)
