Girling caliper measurement needed 16pb vs 14

I was wondering if someone could take a measurement from a type 14 Girling caliper, like shown? Basically,
its the distance between the halves. My aftermarket type 14 caliper measures barely .50 which barely makes it over the rotor. As you can see my Girling type 16 measures .60 or so.

edit: My rotors are 9 1/2" in diameter and about 12.7mm thick. Per this thread:

I'll have to get the 9" because they are thinner. This may be the real issue.

Hi Greg, mine measure half an inch plus or minus a couple of thou. I hope this helps. i have Girling AR calipers on my Elan which I could measure later if of any assistance.

Hi Greg,

It sounds like you have +2 discs/rotors on there, and that's probably the issue.

I don't have measurements handy but the girling type 16 calipers I bought to convert my car to +2 spec are definitely wider and deeper than the original 14's so I'd guess what you've found is pretty much standard.

The type 16 mounting bracket is also fractionally higher than the type 14 bracket, presumably to accommodate the larger diameter disc.

If you have type 14 calipers/mounts then you're not gaining a great deal from the larger diameter because part of the benefit comes from greater leverage you get with the type 16 mounts. So if you want to retain the 14 calipers you might as well just fit 9" discs and benefit from greater clearances ?
