I received the pad sets from Porterfield last week.

Fronts are GD533-R4S - $60/Set
Rears are GD524-R4S - $100/Set

I went to install the new pads today. All went well until I removed the right rear wheel and discovered early signs of brake fluid leakage from the caliper. So all of the calipers will come off to be rebuilt. Will get new hoses too. They are all due. Service from Porterfield has been excellent.

Regards,
Dan

I started to remove the rear calipers and found one of the pistons stuck. Not wanting to use pliers or compressed air on the pistons I had a look at the Elan shop manual. The answer was there in Section J. (Paraphrased)

Make sure the master reservoir is full.
Put the car on jack stands, remove the wheels.
Remove the brake pads from all four calipers.
Pump the master gently to push all 8 pistons to the rotors.
Remove each caliper and disassemble.

Worked a treat as they say.

Regards,
Dan

I would suggest you remove the pads from one caliper, press pedal to move piston. Then top up master and do the same to next caliper. One caliper at a time.

Thanks Alan, I'll probably do it that way, but it takes all the suspense out of the task. That's a good idea.
