I bought a replacement from sjsportscar and no problem. Just compare length of original pushrod to pushrod on replacement. you may need to use the original pushrod.

My original is a 5/8" bore, is the Sj one 5/8? The original had been refurbished with new seals but had been mounted on the car for years, with no fluid in the system, I just went to fill the sytem with fluid and bleed it and noticed that fluid was leaking from the pushrod area. Iit had corroded badly, it must have been damp. My worry now is the calipers, these were refurbished a nd fitted with new seals, again no fluid, standing for a long time.....
I guess i'll have to take them down and examine them

Hi,
If your talking brake master cylinder then that would be 0.7" not 0.625".
5/8 would be clutch.

The master cylinder as stated is the.70 cylinder , I?m looking for a service kit for mine as it sticks occasionally

The kit number is SP2172 , can anyone reccomend a good source for these , I remember reading a thread that said there were a lot of inferior copies about.

I?m sure they are an easy fix

Once the Master Cylinder is removed you can see the .7 cast number in the body, no need to measure.

I found this which gives the part number , I?m curious if anyone knows what?s the difference between the RHD and LHD brake cylinders , because the LHD version is fitted to the GT6 and they are cheaper to buy new.

Hello Gents
Here is a picture of the piston from my original brake master cylinder. So wheres the secondary seal?
This off the car back in the seventies, I kept the original brake master cylinder.

Hi As an update and request for info, I fitted a new service kit and found it resolved the sticking but with a stiffer feeling, anyway that was in the summer, I went for a drive a few days ago only to find it now very stiff and sticking in a way where the pedal does not return immediately.

I note Trw manufacture very similar looking cylinders for the triumph range with the lucas name, has anyone used one of these and knows the part number?

Also is anyone still selling the original master cylinders?

As it will be a second attempt I'm just going to swap it out

Hi
Girling ? Lucas ? TRW and now ZF as far as parts are concerned are the same company. So Girling parts are now sold under TRW brand name.
I think the large aluminium brake reservoir was discontinued a long time ago, probably because of regulation but you can still buy the cylinder its self and fit a plastic reservoir.
When it comes to part numbers and this type of cylinder, they are all the same apart from bore size and input rod length
If you have a Demon Tweeks catalogue look at page 376.
You can buy directly from Performance Braking in Monmouth ? 01600 713 117
The old cylinders tended to fail because the actual bore wears out as they were not anodised. The new cylinders are anodised.
