Rear Inner Bearing Orientation

I'm reassembling my rear axle and need some quick help.

Do I have the bearing oriented correctly (o-ring closest to spider/differential)?

Should I remove the o-ring before installation?

Do I have the dust shield in the right position (between the inner bearing and the spider)?

My axles are in the freezer. Assuming I have this right, I'll use my press to finish the process tomorrow a.m.

Many thanks!

Dust shield in the correct place, make sure it does not get trapped between bearing and spider.
Bearing is fitted with the extended inner race facing away from spider toward the other bearing.
Press only on the inner race and I prefer to place a spacer piece as to apply force to centre of spider not to the legs.

Thank you, Craven. Much appreciated.

About the O-ring - I read one place it is there for a different application and unnecessary for our Lotus. But the comment did not say remove it. Should I? Something tells me it?s going to end up being a pesky part of this process if I don?t.

Best,

John

Have never used it, I think the original design of the bearing was for a Ford live axle half shaft where oil is present around the outside.

Perhaps we could combine this thread with mine since it is very similar:
lotus-suspension-f42/rear-spindles-hub-shafts-replace-t41048-15.html#p291288

I am fitting identical (apparently) rear shafts but to early style housings. It occurs to me that the placement of the bearing effects the lateral location of the brake rotor.

Any comments?
