Ignition Steering Lock & Underdash Trim

Hello All,

I need your sage advise as always please. I am fitting the underdash trim (bought from SJ Sports cars) and am stuck at the ignition barrel because it is blocking a part of the under dash trim. Let me show you...

Trimmed - but you can see its blocking the ignition

I tried to get socket on these but no joy

So Im thinking that if I can get a socket on the bolts then I can loosen and twist it below the trim? Will this work? Has anyone done the same? Advice welcome.

Here is the other side - looking rather splendid if I say so myself although it doesn't meet the crash pad - but its a million times better than it was below.

There should be a hole through the trim for the lock...

P.s. looks very nice. Should buy some for my car as assumed they weren't available so made some with sheet ali.

Thanks, so spent an hour fiddling with it and its all done - looks pretty good too (even if I say so myself)

If you're keen to look at the end result, watch the video below.

Looks very nice.

I presume your aware that there also pieces that go over the edges as standard. Yours looks tidy enough purge wouldn't think it was missing unless they knew.

Yeah I know (re the edges) - I thought that the kit from SJ would have them (it cost enough as it was) and so I decided just to fit as is.

Thanks, it passes the 5 yard stare so thats good for me - I ordered so much vinyl I have enough to do it 5 times over ;-)

Cheers
G

Yeah, they quite pricey for few bits of plastic. Think I'll stick with my originals for a while longer.

Wouldn't have thought the missing trim would be that hard to fabricate yourself, just bend some aluminum L strip to fit, cover with foam and vinyl.
