Car is a 1971 +2S. I currently have 90% of one rear brake shield and 25% of the other. What is the current feeling on having them? If necessary are they available from anyone or will I have to make a set?

My 130S only has the top forward portion installed, which has the bracket where the flexible line is secured. The rest of the shields were in a box of parts that came with the car. It doesn't look like the extra parts are necessary, and I am not a fan of the way those parts are attached.

I also have a +2S manufactured in 1971 and I got rid of the entire rear brake shielding system many years ago. No regrets, no problems. I had to fabricate small brackets to serve is the anchor for the flexible brake hoses. I mounted these the the strut tube with band clamps.

They might not have been so bad if made from aluminum or even GRP for the bits further away from the brake heat. As they are, though, that's a lot of unsprung weight that you don't need.

If I was building a daily driver, in a place a lot wetter than where I am, I'd make them in aluminum and keep the brakes dry. But, here, no way.

Actually, day before yesterday.
We usually get a a little more than eight inches, over 68 days a year and some of it is snow. It's northern Nevada so it's mostly temperate decent weather from Spring to Fall.

If I don't soon finish this thing, average rainfall won't be the detriment to driving. Average lifespan will.

Yes, I seem to be frozen in time here! Four below outside and nothing happening inside...
