I was very interested in this as I am considering using this size tire when [if?] I ever get my car back on the road. After a bit of research, I found that the ?Barum Brillantis 2? has replaced the original ?Barum Brillantis?, and is reported to be a much improved tire in every regard.
An interesting website for pics & reviews is here:
http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Barum/Brillantis.htmThey record reviews from users & score the cumulative results. They did not have sidewall data available.
The newer ?Barum Brillantis 2? seems quite a good tire for the price, while the original Barum Brillantis seems closer to what you would expect from a low budget replacement item.
The survey of owners? reports indicated that about 44% would buy the Barum Brillantis again, where 73% said they would re-purch the newer version. The newer model is said to have improved grip wet & dry with better road feel & more predictable breakaway.
There is an observable difference in the tread patterns between the 2, and it appears that the tires on eBay are the earlier version. Still tempting at that price with shipping included.
