I understand there is no space below in the +2. However yo would need about 23mm below the lowest point of the flange to get straight away using a banjo bolt

I can't find a good photo but I think there is only a few mm space at the mounting end and upward slope that closes the gap toward the rear of the master. I know I can't get my fingers under the master. So I believe that master will not fit, even with no fluid connections fitted! Will see if i can get a photo but believe any kind of bottom connection master is out of the question.

The triumph past supplier responded we a very unhelpful "I?m sorry but we do not offer the part you have requested." with out any reference back to what they don't offer, a reservoir a none slopping master reservoir a master for a Lotus Elan +2 (which I didn't ask for) etc....

Hi Mark, if you are looking for a new Spitfire master cylinder I bought mine from an E Bay supplier. I could probably confirm which one if it is of help? I never enquired about another resevoir and would not be too optomistic about the availability. There appears to be a lot of different resevoirs with different hole centres and sizes and fittings! If you do find one I would be delighted to know the source :D . Cheers , Lyn... :)

Thanks Lyn, there not problem getting hold of the master. It's the flat reservoir or alternative master they aren't available.

If I do find an alternative reservoir I will let you know.

I have no problem with you posting the photos of my modified Datsun 1200 master cylinder.

Thanks Rob. Here are the pictures & description of the mod provided to me by Rob/prezoom.

prezoom wrote:The bottom feed bulges will not clear the foot well without mods. What I did was cut them shorter and removed all the bottom feed parts. The rear brake feed needs to be shorter than the front. After cutting them dowm, I bought 2 16mm- 1.5 bolts and a couple of copper sealing washers. The threads do not go deep enough, so I bought a 16-1.5 bottom tap fro MSC. Not expensive. Tapped them as deep as I could go. You will have to shorten the 2 bolts in order to get clearance for the AN 3-1/8" pipe adapters to fit in the sides of lower portion. I also removed the bench bleed fittings and plugged them with 1/8" plugs.

Hi Mark,
Here is another M/C for consideration. Not cheap, and I do not know the size of the bore. It's for a Europa with the dual braking system. http://www.sjsportscars.co.uk/index.php?mod=10
Cheers,
Colin.

Thanks Colin. I'd got in my head the Europa had a 0.75" master not 0.70" but now not sure about that. Interesting that it's not listed against the +2 if it is 0.7".

You're right about not cheap I am probably looking at $250 to get it here. The spitfire is $70-80, so it's a big difference. I am getting very close to pulling the trigger on the spitfire unit....

I think I have a complete Girling Tandem master cylinder including the reservoir. If anyone is interested let me know and I'll go search for it in my parts bin. I'm sure it would need a seal kit and rebuild to be serviceable.

Bob, is that the same Girling that Mark had at the top of his list? I may be interested; are rebuild parts easily available?

No, my own spare.

I'm sure r.d. enterprises or Dave Bean have rebuild kits

I meant the same type that Mark listed, as in exactly what would be needed to de-servo a Plus 2?
