Is there a trick for sealing the Sovy device?

I have the warning light and the device so I thought I would get it working.
The problem is that I can't seem to seal between the plastic cap and the master cylinder reservoir. I have sealed between the sovy device / reservoir to the plastic cap but because the plastic cap now had to be completely sealed there is a problem?
Anyone still have one on their car ...... Or has everyone took them off as they leak :)

Thanks
Terry

I have the rubber seal!

I did like the idea of the warning light!

If someone has a Sovy float switch that they don't want, I would like to take it of your hands. Mine melted in my Plus 2 engine fire and they are one of the few engine bay components no longer available. I am sure I can solve any leaking issues as I never had any leaks with mine.

cheers

Nope I rebuilt mine... SNG Barrett can sell you a Jag one which you can strip down for parts.

The seal from the reservoir to the SOVY is available from Rdent, it may be a standard cap gasket.

Chaps I had a eureka moment as I had it all wrong.
It's doesn't work like a +2 where the tin can is an extension of the reservoir. I was filling the lower reservoir full rather than to the level mark. With the lower reservoir filled to the mark and because of the small hole there is an air barrier between the two reservoirs.
I think I have it working fine now. :)

The above was complete rubbish, i took it for a spin and immediately the vibration of the car settled the fluid and then after adjustment of the clutch pipe next door, I must have slightly knocked it, dumped fluid on the floor
RIP SOVY UNIT, if I had branch I would have given it a good thrashing.

Terry, here's a picture of my unit in the Sprint:

Sprint_SOVY_092014.JPG and

Apart from the rusty car I am happy  Looks like a PVC joint glue can! Hopefully I can get your unit replated.

Your comments confused me; The metal can is approx 75% full of fluid, any air in the plastic reservoir will bleed vertically & be replaced by brake fluid. The plastic cap on the twin reservoir has a large seal & then there are fibre washers on the centre tapping that holds the SOVY metal can. If any of these leak you'll loose the brake fluid in the can.

I could not get mine to seal (in use) on the large rubber inside the plastic cap.
I am now thinking it could be something to do with using silicone fluid and the slight expansion that occurs under heat.
I can set it up and have no leaks but after a run its coming out of the plastic cap.
I even tried 2 rubbers but this was a disaster as I knocked it as above and it must have slipped and then dumped fluid.

Sounds like time for a trip to the beakers to find a few master cylinder float switch tops.

I once saw a picture of a factory can of touch-up paint, looked very similar, I can't find it now.

I also would like to find a source for these cans, but think this may have been an issue in 1972-74 since I have seem a number of cars (Elans & Europas) with a machined aluminium can which look factory original.

I just used a rubber O ring between the Sovy unit and the metal cap - works a treat
