Hi guys anybody know what the air valve is for on a servo i think mine is sticking or slow to operate.

Are talking about the filter or the check valve in the vacuum line?

Thanks for reply Greame dont have a check valve in line just been working on brakes with the servo vacuum line disconnected brakes work but not as effective with line connected brakes are slow to operate and slow to release as though the servo is sticking.It,s a new servo,lockheed type.I,ve checked and i can hear air valve operating and i,m now at a loss as to what to try next.

Your problem may be caused by the abscence of a non-return valve in the suction pipe from the engine input throat.

Thanks for input guys i dont understand the need for a non return valve in the suction pipe as the servo has a non return fitted but i will fit one to see if it cures problem.

There is no need for another non return valve in the suction pipe if the servo has one (which most servo's do)
The brass right angled fitting fitted by Lotus to the manifold has no valve in the servo take off pipe as that is straight through, the other take off pipe to the headlights does have a one way valve in it.

Or it could just be new.

When I had my booster overhauled last month they could not get a a check valve, white plug in connection to the booster so they gave me an inline one and that works, if that's of assistance.
