Regrettably your 20 yards experience is insufficient to realise that "Servo not working" is not the same as "servo not in circuit at all"

I have twice had the "Servo Not working" experience and in both cases my foot would not believe the pressure it was required to apply and as a result, I twice expensively crumpled my Elan nose against the vehicle in front.


Which is exactly why I took the peskiy thing out of circuit and have never regretted removing that unreliable piece of equipment.

Exactly, with a non functioning servo you have to overcome a huge control loading spring requiring an iron will and thighs like tugboats.

I had one go on an Escort and it was integral with the master cylinder, as a temporary bodge to keep me on the road I prised the servo body apart and removed the spring, after that the car drove no differently to an unservoed one so I left it as it was.

sorry to say but the truth is that i did not start the engine and let the +2 roll down the slope, so i knew the servo would not work but was still caught out by the very heavy pedal pressure

I've probably done at least 130,000 miles since I took my servo out and the other Bill say he did it 25 years ago.

How much heavier is a Plus 2 than a two-seater Elan?
Plus add weight of 2 kids small enough to fit in the back seats?

Possibly what you say in the way of smaller dia Master applies to a Plus 2 but it is not essential on a 2-seater.

I took mine off when it seized and would never go back. I like the feel with unassisted brakes. Since a recent front caliper rebuild I like it even more!!
