Minilite SS inserts

PostPost by: CG901 » Tue May 14, 2013 5:30 pm

Hi All, I got a set of minilites and separately, four steel inserts. Any body have experience pressing these into the wheel centre? I am torqueing them at 180 lb/ft but they dont' 'seat' evenly. Is there a trick to this? Scott

Hi

I'd check the rim offset is correct before applying too much force- the centre lock spinner base might be bottoming out before it's sufficiently tight. I might be misinformed on this but if your rims are like mine (minilites also) the ss inserts should just push in by hand.

Regards

Hi John, the spinner doesn't come close to bottoming. I have got plenty of thread left. My guess is that the painted surface is just enough to interfere with it slipping in however, this paint is very hard (likely powder coated). Not sure why they don't press these in at the factory, but Minilite just said torque them down until they seat. Scott
