I have not ordered a TPMS yet, because I can't find one that fits the Radio or Ash Tray dashboard opening.

Does anyone have a TPMS out there, and if so which one and how did you fit it in the allowable ash tray or radio

Ah, now I understand what was being searched for.
And there was I thinking that some sort of F1 telemetry system was going to be fitted into an Elan but then I thought to myself; the guy is surely taking the pi55.

That will certainly save some weight & unsprung to boot.

Back on track, so to say; I didn't know that such monitoring kit was so readily available but can someone, perhaps the original poster explain the need for this in an Elan?

Don't think my tyres get to the F1 conditions hot etc. But do they get punctured...well, hummm

possibly eh!

Does a blow out occur when one would want it to ?

Does a slow leak get immediate attention, I can barely see the rear drivers side tyre while driving.

it might save your life, not on a blow out. A leak would be my concern

I want oil pressure, coolant, brake fluid loss gauges and it seems tyre pressure is of concern too

That sure is smart.

I would like to have the on-board.

One would also know then how hot the tyres get as to how much pressure. Not huge, but something else besides safety !

Their lowest pressure rating is 28 psi so not suitable for the Elan and that sort of valve mounted display has been around for decades. Not quite in the dashboard category either.

Question on the Demon Tweeks ?163 job: does it mount inside the wheel so is only suitable for tubeless tyres?

Yes, they mount inside. Not a product really aimed at our cars unless you have Minilites or something similar fitted.

If I were going to do lots of track days, then I would consider this sort of stuff to see the pressures rising and falling with the heat cycle going through the tyres, useful data for extracting the best out of the tyres. An Elan is driven through the seat of your pants almost literally, I always know immediately if something is amiss with the handling or grip and I never go 10/10 on the roads under any circumstances, allowing a safe margin.

I'm sure everyone here always does a pre-flight check? Tyre pressures, Oil and fluid levels etc.

Having visited the site it would appear that the advertised product, TD1000, uses the same set of upper and lower pressure values for all four tyres so wouldn't suit the Elan family.
