Because one trunnion has a left hand thread and one a right-hand thread, when you turn the steering wheel say to the left, one side of the front of the car will rise a little ans the other side will fall a little.

Which way is it designed to go, is it the side on the outside of the turning circle that rises or is it the side on the inside of the turning circle that rises?

I ask because I have two refurbished uprights and one trunnion in my stock of parts & I need to know what I need to order for the other trunnion, preferably without first dismantling the existing steering.

The refurbed uprights have been powder coated and the coating has gone inside the cone that holds the stub axles. do I need to carefully scrape out that powder coating from in there?

Install them to help you lean into a corner. The effect is minimal. Right hand thread on the right side and left hand thread on the left.

You definitely need to remove all the paint from the stub axle hole, you need to have metal to metal contact.

There are other places too, like the caliper lug faces.

The trunnions are marked R & L Bill.. Or should be. Mine are..
