On the Front Hub of my Elan S4 with Knock on Wheels there is a Small Thin Ring which is slightly Larger ID than the Felt Seal does this fit round the Felt Seal or behind the Caliper Mounting Plate or do I just pretend I haven't seen it !!!!
Any help would be appreciated

When I disassembled my +2, I had what appeared to be a very thin o-ring between the vertical link and the caliper mounting plate. It was squashed flat or was flat to begin with. They don't show in the parts list and I had no luck sourcing them. I used a very thin bead of silicone gasket sealer there when I reassembled everything, as it looked like something was needed at that point to prevent seepage both in and out.

It will be interesting to hear what those in the know weigh in with...

The thin ring goes on after inner bearing and has the felt seal sitting in it, the felt should be soaked in oil before fitting, it is designed to rub against upright.
The obring goes between uprigt and caliper miunting plate.

I find the parts book diagrams are very useful, more so than pictures in workshop manual.
