I use Revolution wheels which look quite like 26R wheels but are a fraction the ridiculous cost of the repro 26R style! Also, a Revolution wheel-which the manufacturer says is alminium/magnesium alloy, weighs only slightly more than a magnesium 26R wheel - approx 7lbs for 26R mag vs 9lbs Revolution vs 13lbs 26R aluminium repro.
I had to have a very small amount of machining done on the Revolution wheels to incorporate a "cone" for the knock-off to fit into. I sleeved down the wheel bolt holes from 5/8" to 3/8" with tubing epoxied into place and fitted drive pins from Kelveden-the 26R hubs also came from Kelveden but I found the threads were not great and took a lot of handwork to get right. The 26R knock offs came from Dave Bean at a fraction the cost of UK items.
Over nearly ten thousand miles of very hard use I have not had a moments problem with the wheels.
