repro steel KO wheels

PostPost by: rdssdi » Sun Jul 01, 2012 12:25 am

My memory may be incorrect but I remember that someone was offering reproduction Elan steel KO wheels. I cannot recall whether that was for the Elan or the +2 or both.

Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks

Maybe this is what you are thinking about

http://www.davebean.com/specials1.htm#Wheels

This is ad probably 8 to 10 years old so I haven't a clue on if they still have them or the prices either.

Bob,

you may have mentioned this but remember the Plus 2 wheel is five and a half inches wide. If this is for your Plus 2.

From my experience I would be very wary of any goods from The ?lan Factory or it's reincarnations

I bought a set of the alloy KOs for my Elan Plus 2 from Paul Matty last December. They look great. Worth giving him a call for those or the steel wheels?

Have you actually had any bad experiences with these wheels or are you just making an assumption based on a gripe you seem to have based on your previous thread?

For memory, the ?lan Factory were getting their wheels manufactured by ROH from laser cut thicker guage steel, with a fraction more offset so I would presume the quality of the wheels would be excellent.

I am sure they would be more than "fit for the purpose" unlike the GKN alloys you (Brian Wilson) were offloading some time ago which seemed to be a little too tight for comfort to put it nicely. I don't actually remember you mentioning that reasonably important fact in you ad if memory serves me correctly. Seems like the pot calling he kettle black.

I have been purchasing many parts for my +2 from the Elan Factory and found the parts to be of high quality in comparison to other suppliers.

For the record, have purchased the Elan steel KO wheels from Steve - Elan Factory and they're great.

They're much stiffer than the originals (kept as spares) despite being only marginally heavier.

Also, have a set of Plus 2 alloys from Paul Matty which I purchased almost ten years ago. They're gorgeous to look at. However, 2 wheels had bushes inserted for the drive pegs while the remaining 2 wheels didn't. No issues yet so far...

Cheers,
Brian

Hi MLM

Sorry you were not happy with the GKN wheels and Michelin tyres

They were purchased from the UK specifically to move my Plus 2 and as advised to you at time were only used the once with no problems

I sold them to you in good faith

If you were not happy with them, why not say at the time?

I am more than happy to refund your money and take the 5 wheels and tyres back even now

Please contact me offline to arrange the exchange asap

At no time will i rip people off, hence my offer of a full credit for the goods

MLM

Still have not heard from you with respect to the wheels

Obviously they were acceptable to you!

Why the rant about me and my honesty and comparing me to in my opinion a dishonest person

My offer of a full cash refund for goods returned still applies

If you would like a reply for all to see then you asked for it.

Firstly, your more than generous offer seems a little different to you puerile behavior you displayed when I did raise this with you and you hung up.

An honest person (of which you are not) would probably not sell wheels which were not fit for the purpose. But who knows, maybe you use your wheels as coffee tables or garden ornaments for which they would be perfect.

As for my ranting. You discredit a legitimate business selling reproduction wheels based on no bad experience or any known fault with the wheels. Just a gripe against the business.

Get a life.
