Just measured one of the new ones in stock here at 1-5/8" long. People tend to miss replacing them and they are required on a gearbox rebuild because they are usually the original 40+ year old part and a very important in guiding the propshaft.

You may find on inspection IE, inserting the gear box end of the prop shaft splined drive into the rear extension
that the inner bush may not show much wear at all. After reading the post above I thought I better check
mine because I have just replaced the seal after having made a special extraction tool;
Tool To Remove Gear Box Ext Housing Oil Seal
elan-f15/tool-remove-gear-box-ext-housing-oil-seal-t25017.html

So after mating the prop shaft inner splines to the extension housing, the play was minimal,
about 2thou max... which surprised me as the bush is the original and I have never replaced it,
so check the actual wear before you get involved in extracting the seal and the inner sleeve
bearing.
